1 storey house in Aarhus N, Denmark

Because of an accident with a lorry Viggo is disabled using a wheelchair and is not happy about stairs - but we have a collapsible ramp for one or two steps. Outdoors he uses an electric wheelchair (62*111 cm), so we need access to charge it in the house or in the garage.

Our house is in a very quiet area even if it is only 4 km north of the centre. Bus 22 leaves every 60 minutes about 200 meters from our house, and a city-train 800 meters from our house every 8 minutes to the centre. Our garden is sheltered and about 1000 m2.
Aarhus is the second biggest city in Denmark with 345,000 inhabitants. It is situated at the east coast of Jutland (Jylland). You will find fine beaches and quiet woods around Aarhus. Even if Denmark is a very flat country (the highest point is 171 ms!) you will find the land gently undulating. If you like hiking or biking you can be in the countryside in a short time. Aarhus is known for its open air museum 'The Old Town' (Den gamle by www.dengamleby.dk), the prehistoric museum 'Moesgaard' www.moesmus.dk with the Grauballe bog man from 3rd century B.C. and ARoS, the new art museum with its famous rainbow panorama on top www.aros.dk
Nearby you will find many castles and monuments from ancient times.

Quotes from a letter from an English exchange family:
"We have had a marvellous time in your home, which we have found very comfortable and relaxing. We have greatly enjoyed your lovely garden too... Aarhus - what a truly delightful city! Two weeks were hardly enough to enjoy all the pleasures on offer here. We visited the Cathedral, the Church of Our Lady (for concerts), the excellent Moesgaard Museum, the Concert Hall, Den Gamle By (probably the best museum we have ever visited), the delightful Botanical Gardens, the Deer Park (twice) and we had many walks in the lovely Marselisborg and Moesgaard woods. We especially appreciated the wonderful beech trees... Further afield our great favourite was the Mols National Park www.nationalparkmolsbjerge.dk. We visited three times and really enjoyed the wonderful walks. To anyone who enjoys walking we would strongly recommend these hills. An additional pleasure in the Park were the great variety of butterflies and wild flowers, many of which we had never seen before. We also visited Rosenholm and Kaloe castles, Ebeltoft (charming) www.ebeltoftby.dk, Silkeborg for Tollund Man, a boat trip on the paddle steamer and a lovely walk around the hills/woods of Slaaensoe. We also enjoyed the moors, lakes and woods at Hald near Viborg."
