Today the former kid's room serves as a 2nd "bedroom" during exchanges. Are you fit enough to climb the high sleeper ? :-)

Most likely my next exchange options are in autumn. (In July a wonderful Intervac contact lead me to NYC & I had a great time there !!) My autumn holidays are in October (03.10. - 19.10.) and there are some rough ideas already, but nothing has been fixed yet. My Christmas/New Year holidays are from Dec. 23rd - Jan.05th. I'D LOVE TO STAY IN A'DAM DURING THAT TIME !! :-) Feel free to contact me. However, you should read the following lines in advance, i.e. if you want to offer your place, please take note: I am always bound to Berlin school holidays. Please, google the relevant dates beforehand (or: see date/s above). (http://www.schulferien.org/Berlin/berlin.html) I am looking for cities only, i.e. no rural/remote places. Good + safe public transport and cultural experiences are an absolute "must" because I do not have + do not want to drive a car and I love to go to theatres & cinemas & museums & nice cafés. AMSTERDAM IS ALWAYS ON MY AGENDA ... !!! :-) ---> I do not mind if during summer or in autumn or for Christmas/New Year's Eve ... I let myself inspire by the place you offer, preferably in the Jordaan, around Noordermarkt or Haarlemmerdijk, maar Westerdok/Hoogte of Laagte Kadijk/Entrepotdok zijn ook heel fijn ;) Just ask. (GRONINGEN ? HAARLEM ? DELFT ? MAASTRICHT ? ...) As I never travel with more than one companion at a time, I also focus on exchanging with single persons or couples/two people at a time only. The above given length of stay is always up for negotiation, i.e. it can be a lot less or less or more than 14 days. That depends on the offer/place to go to and my specific situation at that time. Sometimes things/arrangements need to be updated and adjusted near-term. That's it for now, I guess ;) THX, everybody ! Have a great time - Johannah

Flat in a charming Berlin neighbourhood

We live in a four-room apartment (plus kitchen & bathroom) on the second floor of an authentic 1890s'-five-storey-building. The house is located in the middle of Prenzlauer Berg, a well known lively neighborhood close to Alexanderplatz/city centre. Around our home a lot of cafés, restaurants & charming shops can be found - as well as many sights & some nice parks with footpaths and bike lanes. Within a walking distance there are: several cinemas, independent theaters, the so-called 'Mauerpark' (a public park area with a weekly fleemarket and lots of outdoor fun, like the "karaoke stage") and much more... The restaurants and supermarkets serve&sell international food as well as vegetarian and vegan cuisine.
We do not have a car, but I can offer you my all-inclusive public transportation ticket, which is valid for whole Berlin. All kinds of public transport, i.e. subway, S-Bahn, tram or bus, are within a five-minutes-reach.
Our apartment belongs to a housing cooperative complex that was fully restored after 2000. It includes several green community gardens. The tenants are a friendly mix of young and old, families and singles, long-time residents and newcomers. It is a lively and sometimes busy area at night but very secure, though.
The flat (105 sq meters) consists of my bedroom, our living room with a connecting door to my office (computer/wlan inside; an additional guest's mattress on the floor) and my son's room with a high sleeper. The kitchen is fully equipped (but without a dishwasher); in the bathroom there is a bathtub (no separate shower).
