Nächster Flughafen: Nosara, Costa Rica - 45 minuten
Our neighborhood has an abundant amount of biodiversity. There are many birds, howler monkeys, butterflies, and various types of mammals to see. We have some of the nicest valley and ocean views in the area so if you love nature this a great place to be!
We love San Juanillo's location for both the privacy, and proximity to so many wonderful things in our area. It is located in one of the few Pacific beach areas with many rivers and unpaved roads. 7 miles to the south (25 minute drive) is Nosara, Playa Guiones, and Playa Pelada. There are many activities and amenities there to choose from, like world class surfing at Guiones, canopy tours, river and sea kayaking, or even a class at the well known Yoga Institute of Nosara. Just to the south, between us and Nosara is the 2nd largest turtle preserve in Latin America called Ostional. Olive Ridley turtles come to lay their eggs between the months of July and March with the major migration happening in the rainy season months between October and January. The area around San Juanillo itself has many beautiful beaches surrounding it, and is home to a local population of around 300 people. A small fishing village, it has a local grocery, a couple of small bars and restaurants, but also has a very laid back feel to it unlike the surf town of Nosara. Many of the locals in Nosara actually like to come up to San Juanillo for the day to enjoy its secluded beaches. Still, there are several incredible places to eat, with access to activities like yoga, fishing, diving, sea kayaking, and horseback riding to name just a few. To the north, there is another town called Marbella that has an incredible uncrowded beach as well as a surf break in front of the Tiki bar that not many even know about! It makes for a great afternoon for sure. These are just a few things to enjoy while you are staying so come check it out, and tell us what you think.
