Our home is a two storey apartment on the second and third floor of a beautiful modern building on the Oostelijke Eilanden (Eastern Docks) in the former harbor area around the IJ, the estuary of the river Amstel.
Through a little entrance hall with a cupboard and a toilet/shower, you enter the spacious downstairs living-/dining room next to a well equipped kitchen with a induction stove, one air fryer, an ovens and a dishwasher.
There is audio/video equipment available.
On the south side of the room there is a wide loggia with glass sliding doors/windows, where we have created a peaceful working and reading spot, looking out over the water of the IJ with on the opposite the historic Lloyd Hotel.
Upstairs you will find a library-corner in the hall. Furthermore there are two identical roomy rooms, one used as a bedroom with a double king size bed and one used as a study with a fold-away twin bed.
The bathroom has a bath tub, a shower and toilet. And in the small room next to it, there is a washing facility, containing a washing machine and a dryer.
Our garage is not accessable for other people so therefore car exchange is unfortunately not possible.

About the neighborhood
Our home is on the Java-eiland, one of the Oostelijke Eilanden (Eastern Docks) and is built in the IJ, the estuary of the river Amstel. This former harbor area has been re-designed by famous contemporary architects and has become a trendy place to live.
There is a nearby, walking distance shopping centre for your food-supply, for instance a nice organic shop and two bigger supermarkets. And every Wednesday there is a small organic market nearby. There are also several nice pubs and restaurants. On the adjoining island KNSM-eiland you find some lovely shops, among which a nice little bookshop where you also can have a coffee.
Walking along the IJ you find an interesting concert hall, the Muziekgebouw/Bimhuis, and several musea: the recently opened EYE Film Museum, the Maritime Museum and the NEMO (technical museum). Also nice places to go to are the zoo Artis and the Hortus Botanicus, approximately 3 kilometers from our home.
Public transport (tram and busses) stops in front of our building, among which a direct bus to Centraal Station, where the Metro, many trams and busses go to all directions.
A wonderful way to go site seeing of course is by bicycle, which you can rent for instance at the Centraal Station.
