House in Seattle, USA
Our house is an old traditional "Craftsman" house built in 1914. It is a very popular style here. The floor plan and the wood trim around doors and windows are old style. It is a fully modernized house with all new electric wiring and plumbing, new high efficiency furnace and air conditioner for heating and cooling the house and new water heater. Kitchen and baths are also new or newer. We feel that it is a very comfortable and welcoming house.
Coming up the front steps and opening the front door you come in to a small entry hall. To the left is the door that leads to the stairway going up. To the right you come into the living room with its sofa, wingchairs and fireplace.
The room is open to the dining room with its built in china cabinet and our old table. I know its old as it belonged to my grandmother's grandfather back in Sweden. Anyway, extended it can sit 12 people around it. Also on the main floor is a bedroom with a queen size bed, a bathroom, the kitchen and a family room leading out to the backyard patio.
This is a nice outdoor eating area and our BBQ grill out here is often used.
Upstairs is my office and two large bedrooms and a bathroom. This bathroom has a big shower and a separate jetted tub.
Downstairs is laundry room, a toilet, some storage rooms and a separate apartment.
This separate apartment is rented out to a young man, a book keeper. He has a separate entry door and we hardly ever see him. He will be happy to help you if you have any questions.
The house is wired for internet, cable-TV and WIFI. Our internet speed is fast. Using Ookla Speed Test we measure 936.85 Mbps download! That we are close to the University is partly a reason for that. I my office there is a printer/scanner with fax capabilities and you can connect with BlueTooth to it.

Our Neighbourhood

Nearest Airport: SeaTac - 19 miles
We are in the city. The neighborhood is all single family houses with their own yards. We have a big park less than five minutes walk from here. In the park there are picnic places, childrens playgrounds, tennis courts, basketball court, grass fields and a large wooded ravine with a little creek where you can see birds and sometimes racoons. Just down the street is a small grocery store and café.
Walk ten to 15 minutes and you could be in the U-district with a multitude of restaurants from all over the world.
Less than 5 minutes by car will take you to University Village. An outdoor upscale shopping mall. Several large grocery stores open 24 hours are here too.
Ten minutes by car or 15 minutes by bus will take you down town Seattle. Explore the Pike Place Market, the waterfront, the Space Needle, the EMP, take a ride on the Ducks.
We have several golf courses within the city. The closest mountain for down hill skiing is 1 hour away. Sailing is right in the city. Wineries with tasting rooms are about 1/2 hour away.
The nature around here is very varied. Drive west to the Olympic mountain range and some of the worlds rare temperate rain forests. Drive east cross the Cascade mountain range over to dry plains and different landscapes.

About Our Family
We are now a family of two. Barbara is a retired dental hygienist and Gustaf is an almost retired real estate broker. Our children have their own places and do not travel with us. We love to travel. Gustaf was born in Stockholm so we go back there frequently.
