Appartement in Sint-Niklaas (in cohousing project)
My appartement is situated in Sint-Niklaas, a central medium city between Antwerp and Ghent. We have a garden of 1000 m2 and on the front site a public parc, it is a very quiet plave. The train and bus station is 5' walk. In 15' you are in Antwerp, Ghent is 30'. Also trains to Brugge, Brussels, Hasselt, Liege, the coast, ...., really easy.
The appartement is 63m2 and there is : a fully equiped kitchen, living room, storage, toiletroom, sleepîng room with double bed and bathroom. The sofa contains a double bed, so it is possible to stay with 4 people, but it is not very big then.
The appartement is part of a cohousing project, that means that there are some facilities for all the residents : big dining room and salon, washing place, place for bikes and garden. You can use all this facilities. You can choose to join other residents ik the dining room or not. The view is green on both sides, no street noise near the windows.
Sint-Niklaas is famous for its market place (the biggest in Belgium), has some musea and a lot of shops. In the surroundings is a lot of possibility to be in nature (Waasland).

Our Neighbourhood
Nearest Airport: Brussels Airport -
Surroundings : the village of Landskouter is very quiet. There are no shops, no pubs. But 4-5 km away there are shops and everything you need in the villages Scheldewindeke, Melle, Oosterzele, Merelbeke. Ghent is 18 km by car and 15' by train, Ghent is a major city, of course you find everything there.
In our street you can start marked cycle routes (2) and you can start beautiful walks.
Landskouter is the first entrance to the "Flemisch Ardens", a hilly region with lots of possibilities to walk and cycle, drive arround, visiting historical attractions, drinking a glass on cosy cafe-terras, ...
We have lovely neighbourghs who are used to the fact that "strangers" live in our house and they want to help where needed.
For description of other possibilities in Belgium : see text house.

About Our Family
We are Viviane and Ria, 58 and 62 years old and married. We have no children. Viviane is director of an educational organisation providing courses for adults who work with disabled people. Ria is a civil servant at cultural affairs.
Lifestyle
We are very interested in gardens, books, food, meating people, cycling, photography, ecological lifestyle, movies, ....
We like travelling and have seen already a lot of countries. We went for house-exchange five times and really like it. In 2012 two people from Canada (76 + 77 years old !) did homesit on our house without a car, it is possible, but it is more comfortable with a car. In 2013 a family from Switserland with two children enjoyed their stay in our house. In 2014 two Dutch sisters stayed for a week and a Danish couple stayed for three weeks. In 2015 we did an exchange with a man from Amsterdam. In 2018 we did an exchange with a family from Canada, car included. They had a baby and we provided all gear necessary from friends.
But before we started with house exchange, every year we went on vacation someone known or unknown came house-sitting, so our house is open for guests.
