Pleasant family home near just about everything in The Netherlands.

Hi there!

We live in Voorschoten, a village in the Southwest of the Netherland; located in between Leiden, the historic university town, and our refined royal seat Den Haag (The Hague/ La Haye). Within short driving distance (appr 30 minutes) are Delft, Rotterdam, Haarlem, Utrecht and our enigmatic capital Amsterdam. North Sea beaches are only about 10 km away.

Voorschoten itself has a charming centre, is abundantly facilitated (shops and public transport), and houses several festivals. Just around the corner from our house is a park with lakeside beaches which also offers several watersports' facilities and a tree climbing park. Our neighbourhood is green, quiet, and child-friendly (plenty of playgrounds and very few cars).

Our house has three floors and a typically Dutch back garden leading to a private carpark. At the groundfloor you will find the livingroom, dining area, and kitchen. Upstairs, the first floor is made up by the rooms of our eldest daughter and son, the guest room (1 p), and a bathroom. The second floor contains our youngest daughter's room, the parental bedroom, second bathroom, and laundry room. The front door opens to a path for pedestrians and bicycles only.

We signed up with Intervac because of the happy experiences of relatives. We are very enthusiastic about the concept and have only made very happy exchanges so far. We are curious to see where the intervac matches will lead us next! Please don't hesitate to send us a message.

About the neighborhood

We live in a wonderfully green and serene neighbourhood. Easy to access and navigate.

The Netherlands are known for its historic towns and museums. Our house is an ideal starting point to visit both: they are all very close by.
Leiden: 13 museums from Rembrandt's masterpieces to a trip through the human body. https://www.visitleiden.nl/en/culture/museums

Den Haag: There is so much to see and experience in the city by the sea, you certainly won't be bored. Want to soak up culture? Admire the exquisite works by Rembrandt and Vermeer in the Mauritshuis or the largest collection of Mondriaans in the Kunstmuseum. Discover the largest painting in the Netherlands; Panorama Mesdag, and many more... https://www.museum.nl/en/den-haag

Amsterdam: Amsterdam is world-famous for its iconic museums like the Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh Museum, Anne Frank's house, and Stedelijk Museum but of course there are many more and there is lots more to see in the city.

We are a family of five; Joris, Annemiek and three children (girl 2007, boy 2010, girl 2012). We have been living in Voorschoten since 2011 and love it. The village is happilly situated; giving easy access to most of the country while accomodating everything for everyday use. Our home has 4 bedrooms with one person's (adult) sized beds and a bedroom with a double bed. We have a cot available, if needed.
It won't surprise you that we have several bikes. We have various other modes of transport with wheels: inline-skates, pennyboards, longboards, stunt-scooters, etc.
We have a Barbet (French Waterdog; a hypo-allergenic, non-hairshedding breed) which stays with relatives during exchanges. We would be happy to take care of your pets (cats, chickens, ...) during a house swap.
