One of a kind converted church in Edinburgh's seaside
Our home is a former church, converted into a house by us in 2012, which dates from the 1800s. Inside it is bright, very spacious, modern and features all mod cons. It has a sunny garden, 4 bedrooms, 4 toilets, 2 baths and 3 showers. It’s a unique property we think you’ll really love.
We have a superking bed, kingsize bed, small double and a triple bunk.
We have 2 sitting rooms both with TV.
Free internet.
Use of our car.
Fully equipped modern kitchen.
We would also ask you to look after our 2 very friendly cats whilst you’re here.

We are all sorted for summer 2026 with an exchange in France - so please don't ask for summer dates to avoid disappointment :) We are looking for 3 nights over Easter (preferably at a a weekend) in Copenhagen or Malmo. |

About the neighborhood
Portobello is Edinburgh’s seaside. The beach is at the bottom of our road and there are interesting shops, food vans, takeaways, restaurants and cafes for you to enjoy. We have some great kids’ play parks, green spaces and gorgeous Georgian architecture. And all 20 mins bus journey from Scotland’s capital city and all it has to offer.

Hélène and Bernard are the perfect hosts. On arrival there was a welcome pack including speciality food and drink from the region; a fridge full of food and a friendly neighbour to show us round. The house is STUNNING (the photos don’t do it justice) the garden is magical and look lovely too. The street they live on is so pretty with shops, restaurants and a market nearby. It was a gorgeous place to stay. They generously loaned us their car too. Sadly, Hélène was ill so they didn’t manage to make the exchange to our home; instead finding accommodation with friends. We will invite them to our home another time to ensure they get to spend time in our house! We loved this exchange and meeting H&B. They are very special, kind and warm-hearted people with a lovely home.
Zoé, Richard et leurs 3 garçons sont une famille adorable. Si pour des raisons personnelles nous n'avons pas pu - avec regret- aller chez eux en Ecosse, nous les avons rencontré alors qu'ils étaient chez nous. Ils ont bien profité de la maison et de sa piscine et , après leur départ, nous avons retrouvé notre domicile en très bon état et avec de sympathiques cadeaux. N'hésitez pas à faire un échange avec eux !

We are a family of 5: Zoë and Richie and our 3 boys (11, 9 and 6).
Zoë runs her own business decluttering and organising people's homes all over Edinburgh and the Lothians. Richard is a Civil Engineer and worked for 10 years on the new Queensferry Crossing, much to the delight of our boys.
We have 2 very friendly Burmese cats, Dolly and Dave and they will be here, so looking after them is part of the package.
