5 bedroom family house with easy access to The Lake District
Large traditional stone-built home with comfortable but contemporary interiors, over three floors. Situated in a vibrant market town, ideally placed for the Lake District and the The Yorkshire Dales. Well connected by road, rail and bus - less than 10 minutes walk from Kendal rail station.
The heart of our house is the large open-plan kitchen-diner-sitting room with bifold doors that open to decking and bring the outside in. Separate cosy lounge with wood-burner.
We are within 15 minutes walk of the town centre, with a cinema and arts centre, an art gallery and multiple independent shops, cafes, restaurants and bars. There are several supermarkets, three within 5 minutes walk. Lovely walks around the hills and rivers of the town, including up to the ruined castle. Swimming pool and climbing wall also nearby.
The Southern Lakes are within 10 minutes by car, and the Northern Lakes are easily accessed via the A6 and M6. A perfect location for hill walking, biking (road, gravel or mountain) and wild swimming as well as visiting tourist attractions like the homes of Beatrix Potter and William Wordsworth. The West Coast main train line, from Oxenholme station, makes day trips to Manchester, Liverpool, Glasgow and Edinburgh all possible.
We love living here and hope you will agree our house is a great base for a holiday in a beautiful part of England.

Kendal is a charming market town in Cumbria, known as the 'Gateway to the Lake District.' Surrounded by rolling hills and stunning countryside, it offers a perfect blend of outdoor adventure, history, and convenience. The town itself boasts a vibrant town centre with independent shops, regular markets, cosy cafés, and traditional pubs, alongside cultural attractions such as the Abbot Hall Gallery, Brewery Arts Centre and the ruins of Kendal Castle, which offer fantastic views over the town.
Our home is located on the northern side of Kendal, directly on the A6, providing easy walking access both into town and towards the Lake District. We’re within a short walk of supermarkets, making shopping convenient, and a quick drive from the M6, perfect for exploring the surrounding areas. With excellent local walks, cycle routes, and the stunning landscapes of the Lakes and Yorkshire Dales nearby, plus walks from the doorstep along the local rivers or into the local hills.
The road we live on can be quite busy during the day but the house is set well back from the road and the road is generally quiet after 6pm. The rear of the house is quiet all the time.
