Flat in Hasselt, Belgium
My 103 m² brandnew apartment, situated on the second floor (with lift) in the very city centre offers a fully equipped kitchen in a sun filled livingroom, a laundry (with washing machine), 2 bedrooms, a bathroom and 2 bikes in the underground garage.
Hasselt, the capital of the Limburg province, offers nice shopping, outdoor and indoor swimming, 4 museums, a megascope, a theatre, a Japanese garden and lots of restaurants. Nearby is the natural park Midden Limburg, a recreation area with an open air museum on rural architecture. Huge efforts are made to create a bikers paradise (over 1.000 kms of separate bike paths). Sint-Truiden, Diest, Tongeren, Liège, Maastricht and Aachen are also very near. Leuven, Brussels, Antwerp, Ghent and Bruges are within easy day access. Hasselt is even a good base to explore Holland, Western Germany and Luxemburg. Seniors over 65, also from abroad, can travel by train all over the country with a return ticket which only costs 7 euro per day.
The nearest airports are Brussels National Airport, Brussels South (Charleroi), Maastricht and Eindhoven.
Through two home exchange organizations I have been exchanging home since 1981 with over 115 families in very different countries all over Europe and in the USA and in Canada. In the Intervac blog you can read an extended interview titled "Belgian family reaches the magic number of 100 exchanges" or you can also google this title.

Hasselt (80.000 inhabitants) is the capital of the Limburg province in the north east of Belgium; it offers nice shopping, 4 museums, a theatre, a megascope and a Japanese garden. Our province is well known as a real biking paradise (1.500 kms of separate bike paths). The historic cities of Louvain, Brussels and Antwerp are at 75 kms, still within easy day access there is Ghent and Bruges. Überaus zufrieden. Guter Kontakt. Wohnung sehr schön. Große Hilfestellung. Abholung vom Bahnhof.
