Welcome!

Comfortable, detached house in calm, friendly cul-de-sac in a historic, picturesque English town.

Pleasant home in a quiet location, a few minutes' walk from the lovely town of Ampthill and pleasant country walks.

We have a modern kitchen, confortable furniture and nice neighbours. Four bedrooms upstairs and a newly renovated bathroom with P-shaped bath and shower.

Bedroom 1: Double bed
Bedroom 2: Double bed
Bedroom 3: Single which converts to a double or two singles
Bedroom 4/office: Single sofa bed
Bedroom 5/office: Single sofa bed

Downstairs is a good sized lounge with two sofas and an armchair. This leads into a light dining room with pine furniture. The kitchen has a dishwasher, and large fridge-freezer a gas hob with electric oven/grill. We also have a downstairs office (with single sofa-bed for a fifth bedroom) and a downstairs wetroom (shower/toilet).

We have three well presented gardens at the front, side and rear of the house and off-road parking for up to three cars.

We have a friendly cat called Colin, who goes outside for toilet duties! He just needs feeding. If you need to go away for a few days, we can probably arrange for someone else to feed him, or we have a 4-day automatic cat feeder.

We have a nice grand piano, and several other musical instruments. The TV has various channels/apps via Roku and Freeview, Apple TV and Amazon Prime Video. We also have a robot vacuum cleaner, and an Alexa for music or any questions you may want to ask her!

Ampthill is a small, friendly town with a large park, nature reserve and excellent restaurants. It also has lots of history: King Henry VIII used to hunt in Ampthill Park many years ago! Our street is a pleasant cul-de-sac, and the neighbours are lovely.

About the neighborhood

Our historic town is located on a hill in rural Bedfordshire, dating back to 1500 AD, and King Henry VIII regularly visited Ampthill. We live in one of Ampthill's prettiest and calmest roads, only a few minutes walk from the town.

Cooper's Hill nature reserve is opposite the end of our road, and there is a large picturesque park (64 hectares) with hill views. Ampthill has excellent restaurants, bars and tearooms and a pretty market square and clock tower in the centre. It is one of England's smallest towns (approx. 12,000 people).

There is a Waitrose supermarket in Ampthill, and also a larger Tesco store nearby in Flitwick.

You can easily visit London for a day from here (Flitwick to St Pancras: 45 minutes by rail). Also, Oxford and Cambridge are an hour by car, and the beautiful city of St Alban's is 30 minutes by car or train.

John Bunyan (famous author of 'Pilgrims Progress') lived near Bedford, and there is a museum about him there.

We love to travel!

We are Rob & Lois. We have lived in Ampthill for many years and we love it here. We first joined Intervac in 1996 and have had many wonderful holidays this way.

We have three children who are grown up now, but often still join us when we travel. We are a close family and enjoy country walks, jigsaw puzzles, music and making each other laugh. We are members of Ampthill Baptist Church, just up the road.

Lois teaches infants, and Rob is a French and German teacher, choir leader and author. We spent eight years living and working in West Africa and have a big heart for this continent. You will find some souvenirs of our travels in the house!
